Standard Dosage Guidelines

Small Animal Dosage

Species Indication Dosage Frequency
Dogs Diuretic 1 g/kg IV to maintain urine flow (5%-25% solution)
Fluid expansion 0.5-2 g/kg IV (or 0.1 g/kg/hr)
Glaucoma or CNS edema 0.25-2 g/kg IV over 30-60 min (15%-25% solution, repeat in 6 hours if necessary)
Cats Fluid expansion 0.5-0.8 g/kg IV over 5 minutes, followed by CRI of 1 mg/kg/min

Large Animal Dosage

Species Dosage Frequency
Horses, Cattle, Pigs 0.25-1 g/kg IV administered over 1 hour (20% solution)
Foals 0.25-1 g/kg IV administered over 15-20 minutes (20% solution)
