Polymyxin B Sulfate Dosing for Dogs, Cats, Horses By Weight
Important Preparation Information
IV Solution: Mix 500,000 polymyxin B units with 300-500 mL 5% dextrose for CRI.
IM Solution: Mix 500,000 polymyxin B units in 2 mL sterile water for injection or sodium chloride injection or 1% procaine hydrochloride.
Antiendotoxin: Dilute in 10 mL of 0.9% saline solution given as an IV infusion.
Intrathecal: Mix 500,000 polymyxin B units in 10 mL sodium chloride (50,000 units per mL).
Horse Infusion: Mix in 1-L saline solution and administer over 15 minutes.
